I’m walking to my scheduled shoot, and I see this Oldsmobile Starfire (Year??).   I’m taking the shot, but in my mind I’m feeling nostalgic.  I’m seeing vintage with lots of gold in the sky reflecting on the shiny red paint.  Problem is, it’s not golden hour.  The car might be gone if I waited for the right lighting.  My only option is just get the shots while I can, and play with it in Photoshop and Lightroom.  I’m so glad we have these tools to make what we envision when we take the shot, and make them a reality when we go to post editing.   It gives a new way to be creative in our minds as we do the shoot.

What I learned and what I would do differently?

I think I would have framed my shot a little better. Go more wide and have more of the rear the car in the shot.  I should have taken more shots of the car so I would have more to choose from.   I ended meeting the owner of the car, and he moved his car a little so I can have more angles to shoot, but I was nervous.  If I had a chance to do it again, I would have taken more advantage of the owners generosity.  He was happy I even noticed his car,  so I don’t he would have minded me taking the time to get the perfect shot.  Also, I should have asked the owner if I could take a picture of him with his car.  When I look back, I see all these missed opportunities.  I guess this is what my blog is all about.  If I have a similar opportunity, I’ll rember these moments, and try do things better.  Might not be perfect, but another experience to learn from.
